Description:

Online training course to educate future trainers in the didactics of the new discipline of Ecological Social Theater, which has been developed and tested during the ERASMUS+ project Ecological Social Theater. This fully online course will provide key insights into the tools and techniques developed and implemented in the project. It will also instruct on dynamics and practical exercises that will enable students to later deliver this type of training to refugees. The ultimate goal of this course is to equip future teachers to design theatrical courses for refugee populations and asylum seekers, promoting their knowledge and adaptation to the host country's culture, as well as enhancing their socio-linguistic and communication skills. To achieve this, innovative theater techniques will be combined with an ecological framework and respect for the environment.

Course objectives:

  • To generate a group of professionals who are knowledgeable and capable of creating, planning, and coordinating inclusive theater workshops that apply and showcase the proposed inclusive theater didactics.
  •  To provide the necessary training to develop a critical perspective that enables trainers to identify the positive aspects, challenges, and areas for improvement in the workshops.

Methodology:

  • This course is online. Through the use of different resources:
    • 2-hour online classes via streaming platform
    • Training videos
    • Recommended readings
    • Theoretical and practical tasks and exercises.
    • Didactic guide
  • The course will consist of 10 online classes of 2 hours each, for a total of 20 hours.
  • The course will include activities in a virtual classroom for a total temporary value of 10 hours.
  • Students who attend 75% of the hours of online classes and who have satisfactorily carried out the proposed activities in the virtual classroom will be entitled to a certificate of achievement.

Course recipients

The direct recipients of these courses are theater professionals, with basic training who want to broaden their knowledge and who intend to use didactics to carry out integration courses with refugees.

The Ecological Social Theater (TSE) project proposes a specific and applicable didactic and methodological system through a workshop developed in a linear chronological manner. The workshop consists of four phases, which we have defined in a general way as follows: initial contact and pre-evaluation; relationship and contextualization; deepening cultural integration (conflict and resolution); and job placement in the agroecological sector. Each phase corresponds to and addresses the different procedural stages that we have identified as being experienced by refugee users and asylum seekers in their process of approaching socio-cultural realities and contexts that often differ greatly from their places of origin. The course includes the following contents:

  1. Presentation and exposition of the addressed problem. Theater as a tool for integration.
  2. Pre-planning of the theatrical integration process: the 5 W's of the planning process.
  3. Presentation of the structure of the theatrical integration process.
  4. The phase of establishing contact.
  5. The phase of introduction to inclusive and integrative theatrical practice.
  6. The phase of integration and inclusion through theater.
  7. The phase of integration into the workforce through theater. Introduction to the agroecological world.
  8. Labor integration exercises.
  9. Evaluation and assessment of the process.
  10. Final roundtable discussion among participants.

For the development of this course, the main didactic tool used will be the draft of the Didactic Guide on Ecological Social Theater (EST):
